There are currently conflicting advisories and stories regarding this territory and part of Mexico. However, most of them site on the fact that Manzanillo itself, and area of "direct travel via road 200 from the airport to Manzanillo is permitted and safe".
* Many locals say: "this area is only dangerous, if you are involved with gang activities, but if you do not they do not murder or attack ordinary people".
With this said, I would travel with extra caution, but do not suffer from paranoia, if you are only travelling to Manzanillo. Be aware of the surroundings outside resort and stay safe.

Multicultural Retreat
This is hotel close to downtown.
Hotel has on-site restaurant and
on-site spa. Shopping, with many other restaurants, within short walking and driving distance. But only few still have a websites.
OM Oasis Marina is within 5 minutes drive or 29 minutes walk, Altamar Seafood it is within only
18 minutes walk or 4 minutes drive from the hotel. Restaurante El Palmar Legazpi Restaurant and Bar, El Terral Restaurant, Restaurante Los Delfines and La Maravilla are all within 8 minutes drive or 35 minutes walk from the hotel.
Buffet Bugambilias, Capri, Kyoto and Agave are all inside the Barcelo resort, within 8 minutes drive or 28 minutes walk.
La Katana by Chef Mantilla, La Isla, La Pergola Restaurante and Restaurante Cuatro Vientos are all within 8 minutes drive, near local hospital, behind the golf course.

the hotel. El Tortugario Ecologico and Cocodrilario Tecoman are about 55 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes drive from the hotel.
Ola Brisa Gardens, A.C. are about 15 minutes drive from the hotel and Las Hadas Golf & Country Club is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel.
