Because this was a formal drug cartels territory of Jalisco, the road to resort used to be considered dangerous. However, in the most recent years they cleared this area and began road repairs. It is considered 100% safe to travel and vacation to. But, I would not recommend leaving the resort area without local resort guide or traveling alone too far at night. It is 100% safe to stay on the resort land and in the Mascota area and travel with the guides.

Resort is about 40 minutes drive to the downtown of Mascota, in the middle of the dense forest mountains. 

Central plaza in Mascota is a historical town and also definitely place to see before or after.  Otherwise you will have plenty activities to do in resort. This is also area of Volcán El Molcajete. You can climb a dormant now volcano top, and explore local Pueblo culture.

This region has a very unique traditional foods and crafts. It is called "Pueblo Mágico" by locals. This territory  existed as a settlement during  pre-Hispanic history of Mexico. 

• Cascada El Rincón de Ixcatán Waterfalls are about  1 hour drive from the hotel, 

• Cascada La Ermita Waterfall is within 1 hour 15 minutes drive via Hwy 544.

Resort offers on-site: horseback riding, horse carriage rides, tennis, basketball, lake activities and boating, bike riding, hiking, fishing and more, as well as night time star gazing. 

This is resort has  both an 2 on-site restaurants and on-site spa.

Some shopping, with many other restaurants, within 40 minutes drive in Mascota. However none of the local restaurants have websites. Not even Facebook pages. You will have to enjoy all-inclusive menu from the resort or visit Mascota in person.​
