TRAVEL with SENSE of HUMOR
EVERYTHING ABOUT WORLDWIDE TRAVEL
Location, location, location ...
"Americans, who live in more rural areas, tend to be more anxious and depressed, as well as less open-minded and more neurotic. The study also revealed those living in the country were not more satisfied with their lives nor did they have more purpose, or meaning in life, than people who lived in urban areas." ~ according to the University of Houston, read more
I have to say it isn't always true. Two major differences between living in a small village vs. a small town are the lifestyle preferences and cost of living. The cost of living is probably the first major factor, in why people from urban cities choose to move to suburban regions. If you have a family of 5 with 3 kids, you won't easily find a 4 bedroom apartment in any city. It has to be a townhouse or multifamily unit within city limits. Unfortunately, the availability of career opportunities or growth in suburban areas is limited. Often, unless you owe your own established family business or work for local government, you may not have much to do and not many corporations to apply to. This is where the urban lifestyle is very different from the country.
Country has it's own culture. It is a culture, believe it or not. Ironically, country is where theatre, real cabarét and stage work are more dominating, even now, compare to the digital appearances. As well as rap and country alternative music. Country people are often more talented, it's also a fact. However, high local government corruption, sex traffic, as well as drug traffic are also extremely high in the country compare to any metropolitan city. They don't have much to do out there, so it turns into two options: "churchgoing corrupt high society" or "the other side". Every country town or small village has this, trust me. They all refuse to admit it. Often, when people in the places like that, do not get proper mental attention, "they slip into cracks" and show up in Metropolitan areas with guns, to cause disturbance. It is also very common, Worldwide. If you chose to take across the country trip from, let's say NY metro to SF Metro area, via HWY 80 in a car and via Las Vegas or Lake Tahoe entry, you can count how many churches you will see along the way. More than toilet stops and McDonalds. This is real rural America. I did this exact trip 3 times, since 1998.
When ordinary people do have not much to do their minds tend to stagnate. When this happens, people usually come up with self-stories, and this, in turn, can lead to mental issues. So, communicating with someone from outside, at least weekly, or finding outside entertainment is very helpful. For anyone. But what is the major difference and why do we choose one lifestyle or the other? I wanted to compare both worlds. I will only include states and towns I personally visited or lived in.
I will rank education, class, and social status by using the stars. From 5 to 1, this rating includes the cost of living and employment opportunities in each of these areas.

This is a list of some small towns, some across Hwy 5 and Hwy 1, CA; Hwy 15, Hwy 25, and Hwy 80 interstates, that I had a chance to visit and I feel they need the attention of mental healthcare professionals with a new organic approach. What does this mean? These places are beautiful, tourist attractions in some cases, but, they can be dangerous. They are in no way bad places to live, but rather they lack any connection to reality to be able to evolve, and stay mentally sharp, avoid depression. They are filled with absolutely amazing natural wonders, waterfalls, and mountain views, but ...
People in these places are prone to depressive moods, more than positive, or they are simply withdrawn. Alcohol consumption is probably 50 % higher in these areas compared to the most metropolitan. "Guns and hunting" is a trendy topic in these places as well.
These are the only places I, myself, have visited. I loved to stay there to see nature, it is amazing no doubt, and have a good dinner, but never for more than 48 hours. People in the hospitality and service industry are usually very nice in all of these places, but they all looking for an escape.
